Christoph De Boeck
Christoph De Boeck approaches sound as a visual and tactile medium. In his installations sound turns out to be a tangible presence. The spatial organisation of sound sources, the choice of materials in media and the method for sound transmission all are part of De Boeckâs permanent research into how sound relates to an environment and to human presence. The dynamic spatialisation of sound confronts the visitor with the idea of acoustic energy as an artistic object and even as a visual principle.
De Boeck teamed up with Aernoudt Jacobs to run Overtoon, a platform for sound art based in Brussels.
Christoph De Boeck werkt op een beeldende manier met het geluidsmedium. In zijn installaties wordt geluid een tastbare aanwezigheid. De ruimtelijke organisatie van geluidsbronnen, de materiaalkeuze van media en de methode voor geluidsoverdracht maken alle deel uit van het permanente onderzoek dat De Boeck voert naar hoe geluid zich verhoudt tot zijn omgeving en tot ons. De dynamische spatialisatie van klank confronteert de bezoeker met de idee van akoestische energie als artistiek object en zelfs als beeldend principe.
Samen met Aernoudt Jacobs leidt De Boeck het platform voor geluidskunst Overtoon, gebaseerd in Brussel.
