'pleasestoptellingmehowto(fuckingthink!)'

This work was generated by a performance/video: "(Please Stop telling me how to) Fucking Think!". This started as a simple exercise: the artist removing his beard using gaffer tape. It was performed/videoed in the artist's studio at night. Using a flashing bicycle lamp (on and off) to light the scenario. The only sounds are the dogs barking outside and the screeching of the tape as it is wound onto my head and tentatively removed. The breathing gets heavier as exasperation is compounded by the pain. Joey Kötting didn't know what to expect. The title is simultaneously a pleading and an order - ask and tell - pain and frustration. It reminds of the events that had unfolded in the world the previous few years although this event was self-inflicted.

'Robin Hood'

This second body of work was generated by a series of photographs taken along the artists' travels. A poster for the 2009 "Robin Hood" remake had a perfect mark spray-painted across the eyes of Hollywood. No sight. Deafness heightens hearing. Lose something and what is left compensates for the loss. Digital photographs painted - reproduction using the hand. Watercolouring in The Age of Digital Reproduction. Digital photographs no longer exist in the physical world. Childhood heroes killed by dullard imaginations.
