De tentoonstelling in de Albertina te Wenen - georganiseerd ter gelegenheid van Brus' 65ste verjaardag - toont de chronologie van werken van Günter Brus. Een goede reden echter om een reis te plannen voor 8 maart 2004, is de tentoonstelling 'Prints, Books & Things' van KIKI SMITH in het Museum of Modern Art te New York. Een bezoek aan de web-site is ook al de moeite waard. De website is georganiseerd rond de thema's binnen de tentoonstelling en toont meer dan 135 afbeeldingen onderverdeeld in vijftig verschillende groepen. Het onderdeel 'Process' illustreert de evolutie van twee prints doorheen proefdrukken en werpen een blik op Kiki Smith's manier van creatief denken. De website bevat ook muziek van Margaret De Wys, een componiste die frequent samenwerkt met Kiki Smith. The Albertina exhibition - held on the occasion of Günter Brus' 65th birthday - extends across the chronology of works by Günter Brus, covering a wide variety of fields, both in medium and subject, which all undermine the traditional criteria of judgement and present his work's stringency always as work on the human body. The exhibition presents early (hitherto unexhibited) abstract drawings (around 1958), action studies, photographic and film documents of the actions (1964-1970), photo collages, drawings and pastel sheets (since 1971) as well as a selection of the four-part picture poems. http://www.albertina.at * KIKI SMITH To plan a trip to New York no one ever really needs an excuse. A good reason however to travel to New York before 8 March 2004, is the exhibition 'Prints, Books & Things' by KIKI SMITH at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Visiting the Web site is an interesting experience. The Web site has been organised around the exhibition's themes and includes over 135 images in more than fifty comparative groups. A special 'process' section illustrates the evolution of two prints through sequences of proofs, providing a window into Smith's creative thinking.
